After talking about it for the past couple months, I took advantage of a nice Sunday afternoon to repaint my nightstand. After a couple different colors, a few moves, and two years in the basement, it was looking pretty shabby. Even my cat was starting to paw at the dings on the top of the table thinking they were something to play with. I had braced myself for an all day project, but it only took me a couple hours and was completely free. I had sandpaper already and I used the leftover paint from when my room was green.
And after three coats (and a couple hours spent reading on the porch in between coats)…
Tada! The Finished Project:
I really like the way it turned out. It’s fresh and girly, kind of reminiscent of Maine Cottage painted furniture. However, I think it needs something more… I’m going to attempt a stencil on the top, though I’m not sure what that’s going to be yet. I have to be careful not to clash with the bamboo design of my bed, so a trellis design is out. The prints that I have throughout my room have different botanical motifs, so I’m thinking something of that nature. Perhaps a pineapple? Stay tuned.
