I went to Target earlier this week to check out the new Webster for Target line. There has been a lot of hype around Target going high end with their new “Shoppes at Target” and I honestly expected most of the Webster line to be sold out by the time I got there on Monday evening. The Target I go to out in Rockville though seems to always miss the hysteria around the affordable luxury launches (they even had Missoni pieces on clearance way back when which is surprising given it’s a DC suburb and one would think the residents of this area would be into this sort of thing!?) The entire Webster line appeared to be in the store for the most part, and they had everything in my size – which never happens! I tried 6 pieces on ranging from dresses to skirts and was kind of disappointed to be completely honest. Though I love the styles and prints, the materials seemed cheap and none of it fit terribly well. I LOVED the look of the sheath dress below but why, oh why did Target add these terrible space age cap sleeves? They did the same thing with my favorite Jason Wu for Target dress. Who likes looking like they have weird pointy shoulder extensions?!
I did love this look below and these pieces all seemed nice, though I didn’t actually try on the top or cardigan because I just didn’t feel like going back for a 2nd trip to the dressing room. The materials did feel nice though so I have high hopes that these pieces are winners.
However, before I buy anything from this line, I’ll probably wait until it goes on sale because at the end of the day, the Webster for Target is just priced too high for Target clothing. If I’m going to buy a flimsy polyester dress, I’ll go to Forever 21 and pay $27.99 instead of $49.99.
