First things first, I was so excited to finally get some snow in DC this past Friday. I may be the only one, but I’m a huge fan of the really cold weather (as long as I’m not getting dressed to go out at night). The way I look at, I’ve got a down coat, cute fur ear muffs, etc, why not have the kind of weather where I need to put them to use? So, needless to say, I’m just hoping it snows again soon and keeping my fingers crossed that 70 degrees on Wednesday is a joke.
Now, on to the real topic of this post. In one corner of my room I’ve had an old Ikea lamp that I believe was passed down to me my first summer in DC when I was subletting an apartment while waiting for my roommates to move here. It was ugly but not offensive enough to actively search for a replacement. Luckily, I popped in to Target the other day and found a lamp sitting on a random shelf that I just couldn’t pass up.
It’s a painted wood base that’s the perfect shade of turquoise and for now I’ve just put the shade from the old Ikea lamp on it. It’s not ideal but it works. While it’s not sold online, they had tons of them in the store. The turquoise was on sale for $13 but there’s also lime and white. All three colors were so fresh and fun.
While I was there, I realized Target actually has a great array of lamps in general. If I had need for a yellow lamp, I wouldn’t be able to resist this ceramic base and graphic shade. These two are available online and they also come in a shade of blue. Though I’m not redecorating anytime soon, these do have my thinking about what I could change in my decor…
