Recipe Thursday and Some Current Obsessions

I always buy pears at the grocery store because they seem like such a good idea and sound delicious but then they inevitably go rotten because I never get around to eating them. I found myself with 2 almost too ripe pears earlier this week and made it my mission to actually put them to use. So after a quick google search of pears baked with chocolate, I was ready to take on a dessert that looks fancy but is actually super simple.

Poached Pears with Chocolate Sauce

1 cup water
1 tsp vanilla extract

1 cup semisweet chocolate chips

3/4 cup whipping cream

1 teaspoon vanilla

Peel the pear, leave the stem, and cut off the bottom so that it sits flat in a small baking pan. Fill the pan with 1 cup water and 1 tsp vanilla extract. Set the pear in the pan and bake at 400 degrees for 45 min – 1 hour.

Melt the chocolate chops, whipping cream, and vanilla in small saucepan stirring constanty until smooth.

Serve the chocolate over the baked pear. Enjoy!
