Living Room Updates

The past couple months have been busy, busy putting everything in my new apartment together. At some point I’ll do a post detailing all the projects, but for now, here’s a little glimpse at how everything has come together in my living room.

I love the way all the gold accents have come together. The mirror was a fabulous find that I first saw on my friend Shawna’s blog, the lamps are Nate Berkus from Target, and the tray was actually a white tray originally… 6 coats of gold glitter spray paint later, it has taken on a new life. Of course, you’ll remember, the gold coffee table was a craigslist find that I still can’t quite believe I stumbled upon.

I still am not crazy about my sofa, but I try to tell myself it’s mid-century modern (right?) and it will do until I’m ready to invest in a real piece of furniture. I do think the lines work with the rest of the furniture in the room and it doesn’t compete with the bold turquoise rug and all the pops of color.

I spent hours painting 5 coats each on the end tables. They’re a high gloss Behr paint called Youthful Coral.
The casters are just painted in 2 coats of gold Martha Stewart craft
paint and the knobs are molten glass knobs that I bought from
Anthropologie back in the spring. I was waiting for the perfect spot for
them and this fit the bill.

I’ll try to take more pictures of the other projects I’ve been working on around here and have those posts up soon, but, for now, stay tuned tomorrow for a recap of a Champagne wine night that I’ve got in the works!

I hear you on the sofa! It's so hard to justify spending money on a sofa, and unless you really spend money on it, it's not worth upgrading. I think it looks fine. Is it an Ikea find? Does anyone sell a slipcover for it? That could be a way of changing it up if you wanted to, but I think you're good saving your pennies towards investment pieces. I'm totally copying you on the coral furniture–currently building a coffee table that will be coral (if I ever finish it). Love the way your place has come together!

It looks so good! So you! Especially love the rug…I'm in desparate need of replacing mine, but can't find one in a big enough size that I can afford. I bought a new couch from West Elm in July, it was an investment, but the had a sale so not crazy expensive, and they have 0% financing if you get their card, so can pay it off over a year. And the sales girl in the GTown store was awesome. Just something you may want to look into when you're ready.
