NARS Blush

For years I was swore by drugstore makeup, and while I still have a few favorites such as this foundation and this lip gloss, I’ve discovered that the quality and staying power of higher end beauty products completely justifies the difference in price.

I have been slowly working my way through all the cult classic makeup that you see in every Best Of list online and in magazines. Last month, I bought the much talked about NARS Orgasm blush, though I decided to opt for the duo that comes with the Laguna bronzer. I may pride myself on my non-bronzed complexion, but a little touch of bronzer is never a bad idea for some contouring.

NARS Blush/Bronzer Duo

When I first tried out NARS Orgasm at Sephora, I was a bit apprehensive given the fairly noticeable gold flecks running throughout. While I’m all for some subtle glitter and highlight, I wasn’t sure I wanted to sparkle on an every day basis. Thankfully, once applied, the gold is barely noticeable. It just provides enough sheen to make your cheeks look peachy and healthy. The color is a warm peachy pink that has a slight luminous look to it, it’s as if it’s a highlighter and blush in one, yet it’s pretty and subdued enough that you can wear it for any occasion.

I’ve read online that the bronzer may not work on those with medium to dark complexions, but on my fair skin, it’s the right amount of sunkissed. I use the blush on the apples of my cheeks and then use the bronzer just below my cheekbones and a touch across my temples and nose, right where the sun would normally hit. The look is subtle, but this duo has staying power and keeps me looking lively and refreshed all day.

NARS duo in Orgasm/Laguna is definitely a splurge that lives up to every bit of the hype.
