Last month I was selected to host a Benefit Beauty Bash featuring the They’re Real! Push-Up Liner and a few other great Benefit products including Lolli-tint and Porefessional. It was an evening of girl talk, cupcakes, cheese, wine, and goody bags of samples to take home.
I have sworn by Benefit’s They’re Real! mascara for ages, so I was excited to try a few other products. The They’re Real! Push-Up Liner has been much hyped on blogs since its release earlier this year, but it has mixed reviews on websites like Sephora. Even though I don’t often wear eyeliner, there’s no time like the present to try out a subtle cat eye. And, since brows are the frame of the face, I obviously couldn’t turn down a chance to try Gimme Brow.
First up, the much debated Push-Up Liner. I’m not going to lie, it was difficult to figure this out at first. My first eye ended up clumpy with eyeliner all over my eyelashes (you do not want this!), but I think it was just the nature of the product first making its way to the applicator. Once I had a handle on how the flexible edge of the applicator worked, it made applying the liner super easy. It’s also a true black gel that only needs one coat, which obviously makes for easy and quick application.
The They’re Real! Mascara is a jet black mascara that literally does make lashes look like fake lashes, in a good way. It’s far more lengthening and curling than volumizing, but it creates lashes that stand out. There’s no flaking and it looks just the same at 5 PM as it did at 9 AM. This is my go to mascara whether I’m just running errands or going out on a Saturday night.
Brows are so important and are definitely getting their moment in the sun thanks to models like Cara Delevingne. Gimme Brow is a natural looking brow gel that fills in brows just enough to make them a bit more defined.
Since a pictures days a thousand words, here’s how my eyes looked this morning after using the liner and mascara. Even for a cat eye novice, with the help of the push-up liner, I think I did a pretty good job! On a daily basis, I’ll still probably stick to my trusty Urban Decay Naked Basics Palette, and whenever I’m looking for a more retro look, I’ll pull out this eyeliner. The mascara and brow gel, however, are everyday musts.
