These Boots Were Made for Winter

September through March, I’m in a pair of boots almost every day, whether it’s with a dress and tights or jeans and a chunky sweater or leggings and a silk blouse. Most of my collection, or all rather, is either riding boots or cowboy boots. Classic styles in an array of colors from black to cognac to walnut brown.

When I was headed up to New York a few weekends ago, I decided I needed to add something a bit edgier to my closet. Not just for that weekend, but for any casual afternoon or night out. Plus, with snow and rain in the forecast, I wasn’t eager to ruin a pair of leather boots. Enter the Bayley Buckle Boots from J.Crew Factory.

They are slightly equestrian inspired so still in my comfort zone of boots, but with a short height and a chunkier heel, these boots have an effortless cool about them. They’re “vegan leather,” as we like to call it these days, so, in other words, you can wear them through all the slush and snow of winter and they’ll still look amazing. Seriously, I just wipe them off with a wet washcloth and salt marks disappear.

Every time I put on leggings or skinny jeans, these are now the shoes I reach for. They’re so comfortable that I can walk around town all day in them without my heels aching or my toes pinching.

But don’t worry, my black cowboy boots are still my go to whenever I’m wearing a skirt or a dress. I can’t totally abandon my look.

Um…I may need to order myself a pair. I always get so upset when expensive boots get ruined in the slush. These are perfect for Winter!
