A last minute realization that I had Columbus Day off and an absolutely gorgeous fall day made for a perfect opportunity to check another box off my Fall Bucket List. For years I’ve meant to go apple picking, but never actually made it happen. Now I can officially say I’ve done it and going forward I will go back to my preferred fall in the country activity, wine tasting.
It should come as no surprise that I had to dress for the occasion in my favorite purchases of the fall, a Buffalo Check Vest, and a wool fall hat. Paired with a light pair of skinny jeans (seen before in this post from back when I had super long hair), cowboy boots, and the Kate Spade gold jewelry I wear with everything, and I looked appropriately autumnal for an afternoon of apple picking.

If you’re in the DC area and looking to go apple picking, try Butler’s Orchard or Waters Orchard. We tried to go to Butler’s first since it’s the name one always hears when people talk about apple picking in the area, but their annual Pumpkin Festival was going on, so no apple picking for the day. Waters was definitely a more rustic experience (no accompanying market and pumpkin patches), but it was gorgeous and I’m psyched to use all the apples I picked.
Also, I tried to find caramel (or is it caaaar-mel?! my mid-western apple picking accomplice and I disagreed on this pronunciation) apples after this excursion and couldn’t find them ANYWHERE in the DC area… does anyone have an idea on where to find them?!
I love your hat and your vest !!! Looks like a great time !
I love that vest! I have the herringbone one but really would love to add that one to my collection!
