How I Primp and Pamper to Get Date Night Ready

This post is sponsored by 7th Heaven, but the content and opinions expressed here are my own. 7th Heaven is part of Montagne Jeunesse International.

Having a ritual of self-care and pampering that makes me feel me prettiest is not only essential for getting ready for an evening out––it makes my date nights feel a bit more special. Plus, Valentine’s Day is just days away! That means many of you will be getting all dolled up and going out for a romantic night out on the town with your significant other, the person you’ve been dating for a few undefined months, or maybe that guy you swiped right on last week.

Regardless of who’s sitting across the table, we’re all looking to get date night ready.

So, how do I primp and pamper to get date night ready? First, I like to give myself plenty of time to relax and take my time getting ready. I want time to catch up on all the primping that I don’t have time for on normal days (jk, I make time for primping most days!). But, particularly on date nights, I’ll light a candle, put on a podcast, and break out a face mask.

Lately, my favorite face masks have been the peel-off masks from 7th Heaven. You can pick them up at Ulta and they’re UNDER $2 (this is crazy for face masks these days!).

Ive tried both the Pink Guava Peel-Off Mask and the Black Seaweed Peel-Off Mask. I love that they’re cruelty-free, both in terms of animal testing and they’re wonderfully gentle on my skin. I find so many purifying masks, which these both are, leave my skin feeling parched or red. These peel off easily and make my skin feel refreshed and revived rather than stripped bare.

I let the face mask dry for 20-25 minutes while I listen to a podcast, sit back, and relax. Then I do a little bit of lip exfoliation and take my time showering. I’ll exfoliate, use my pulsating face cleanser, actually use shaving cream while I shave (not always a given, ha), and deep condition my hair.

Once I’m out of the shower, I’ll use one of my nicer, thicker body lotions, use an extra-hydrating face lotion (or two!), and spritz a texturing mist in my hair. From here on, it’s just my normal beauty routine––with perhaps a bit bolder makeup––and taking the extra time to pick out a dress that perhaps I haven’t worn in a while and a statement pair of earrings that only gets pulled out for big evenings.

Now that you’ve got the overview on my date night getting ready routine, let’s take a minute to talk about why it’s so important to put a little more effort into getting ready from time to time!

It doesn’t have to be date night, but, as y’all know, I’m all about self-care. Taking one evening to spend a bit more getting ready, to spend a little more time pampering yourself, to do those beauty regimens that you may not always fit into your daily routine is so, so important to feeling good about yourself. Spend the extra minutes on you and remind yourself that you’re gorgeous.
