The Versatile $35 Nordstrom Black Jumpsuit You Need in Your Closet

It took me a while to jump on the jumpsuit bandwagon, but now that I’m here, I’m all in—and this $35 Nordstrom black jumpsuit is the latest one-piece frock to earn a place in my closet. You can’t go wrong with a jumpsuit. They’re a dress it up, dress it down, pack it in your suitcase and wear it multiple times on a trip kind of item. Seriously, jumpsuits are THE best item to take on vacation because you can wear them so many ways.

HOW TO WEAR THIS $35 NORDSTROM BLACK JUMPSUIT

First, a quick note on sizing: I’m wearing a size Small and it fits perfectly. The XS was fine, but not as comfy through the butt and hips. In an ideal world, perhaps I would get it hemmed an inch or two (I’m 5’5″ for reference), but I like that the ankle-length won’t seem out of place as we move into fall and winter (I totally see this as a four-season layering piece!).

Okay, now, how do I wear a black jumpsuit? Well, this one has earned its keep thus far because it is seriously one of the most versatile purchases I’ve made in recent memory. I wore it two weeks ago with a sparkly pair of earrings and black Jack Rogers for a dinner out. I opted for tortoise earrings and a simple updo for a media preview night at a cocktail bar. Two nights ago, I went with a jean jacket and a leopard scarf for dinner in Colorado (where I’m currently on vacation).

This black jumpsuit is the kind of item that you’ll end up wearing on its own, with easy sandals and simple earrings for a casual lunch, with a blazer and heels for a work presentation, with bold accessories for date night. This is the piece you buy to avoid buying 5 other less versatile items, because, these days, I’m all about finding the classics that will take you through occasions and seasons.
