With two days left in 2020, let’s take a look at the top 10 blog posts of 2020! For the purposes of this list, I chose to only look at 2020 posts.
However, there are definitely posts from 2019, 2018, and beyond that consistently rank in my most popular. Curious about those? My Commando v. Spanx Faux Leather Legging Review, Ikea Friheten Review, Sputnik Chandelier Tips, Carmel-by-the-Sea Travel Guide, Best DC Coffee Shops for Working Remotely, House Hunt in Washington, DC, Intimate Winter Wedding Dinner Party, and Fall Weekend in the Hamptons Travel Guide are all up at the top.
But, for now, let’s keep it to 2020…
Top 10 Blog Posts of 2020
I was glad to see a good mix of posts in my top 10. I love writing about home, style, travel, DC recs, and life advice — and apparently y’all love reading about each of those areas. As a blogger, I write what I know…or what I want to research and learn. So, my editorial calendar revolves primarily around the topics that are currently piquing my interest. However, it’s always good to know that the subjects I’m choosing are actually resonating with readers!
So, without further ado, the top 10 of 2020!
ONE: Is it Safe to Use Facebook Marketplace? What About Poshmark?
Early in the pandemic, we had no idea what was safe to do. But we were also in turbo drive cleaning out our closets and homes — and most Goodwill and donation centers were closed. Thankfully, I found an easy, safe system for getting rid of my old belongings (and making several thousand dollars in the process).
TWO: Do I Need an Air Fryer? Power XL Air Fryer Vortex Review
I did not want to give in to buying an air fryer, primarily because I don’t love having tons of appliances and they do take up a fair bit of room. However, y’all, there’s no looking back. It’s amazing for reheating leftovers but also for cooking veggies, meat, you name it.
THREE: Finding the Right Fit, Part I: Are Madewell Jeans Worth It?
I didn’t want to spend $135 on jeans. That’s why I titled this post, “are Madewell jeans worth it?” Well, spoiler alert, they are. I’m super picky about jeans. I want an ultra high waist and I do not, under any circumstances, want an ounce of stretching out or any waist gape whatsoever. This pair is a winner.
FOUR: Tracking the Best Bagel in DC, Part II: The Taste Test
This was one of my most fun posts of the year to write (I need to recreate it with something else in 2021, right?!). I tried out the 4 of the most popular bagel spots in DC and did a blind taste test. The results were certainly surprising…
FIVE: Fluffy Bedding Hack: Put a King Duvet Insert in a Queen Duvet Cover
I’m glad this one has changed so many of your lives. Truly. Ha. I’ve gotten so many messages from y’all that you promptly went out and bought a one size up duvet insert for your cover and the results were just as fluffy as you’d hoped.
SIX: Winter Ready: L.L. Bean Maine Hunting Shoe Review
Put away your wellies this winter because if you’re going to really stay warm, you need boots that were made for frigid temperatures. These L.L. Bean Maine Hunting Shoes have over 100 years of history to back them up.
SEVEN: A Guide: What to Look for When Buying Vintage Furniture and Home Goods
Forgive the photos from early on in our move to the new place (it looks so bare!), but this post has been one of my most popular. It details what I look for in the vintage pieces that I buy, when I think they’re worth it, how to recognize quality, and how to make sure you don’t end up with buyer’s remorse (because you typically can’t return vintage!).
EIGHT: Our Stay at the Greenbrier: Wintertime at the Greenbrier Review
Winter at the Greenbrier is the most magical. I’m sure spring, summer, and fall are wonderful, too, but you can’t beat their holiday decor and the festive atmosphere of being in the mountains. If you get lucky enough for a snowfall while you’re there, even better.
NINE: A Classic Style: Rothy’s Mary Jane Review + Rothy’s Promo Code
So, it makes me kind of sad…I wrote this post on February 26. I was obsessed with this new Rothy’s Mary Jane style so much that I bought it in leopard, too. And then the world stopped. I’ve barely worn them since. But, trust me, once we’re back to being out and about, they’ll be dancing on my feet non-stop.
TEN: Jewelry 101: Is Gold-Filled or Gold-Plated Jewelry Better?
I was excited to see this post crack the top ten! I hope that I’m helping people stop wasting their money on cheap jewelry that tarnishes and fades after just a few months. Bonus: one of my personal favorite posts this year was the Jewelry Capsule Wardrobe I pulled together.
What Do You Want to See in 2021?
Like I mentioned, I mostly write what I know and what’s on my mind currently. But I’m always open to suggestions! When I’ve posed this question on Instagram, the most popular responses were travel guides, home decor, and wedding topics. All of which I could write endlessly about. So let me know if there’s anything super-specific you want to see covered! Feel free to comment below or shoot me an email. Thanks in advance!
