While I’m sure I could write a long missive about our March spring stay at the Farmhouse at Veritas, I won’t. This was a quick getaway — we took a weekday off to go — and I didn’t even intend on taking photos. But, no surprise, I couldn’t help myself.
If you’re curious about the Farmhouse at Veritas, I wrote a in-depth review of our stay last spring and, for every detail you could ever want, you can revisit that post: Lovely Weekend in the Blue Ridge: Farmhouse at Veritas Review (this is also a fun time capsule since it’s right before I began editing my photos with a slightly moodier feel).
A Spring Stay at the Farmhouse at Veritas
Of course, booking a few days away at the Farmhouse at Veritas is always on my radar. It’s such a special place to us since we got married there and I’ve always felt most at home in the Charlottesville area. But, it was an Instagram post detailing the menu that inspired me to spring for a last-minute weekday stay.
“Black Winter Perigord Truffle is being paired with Lobster Pain Purdue, Vanilla, Sherry Gel, Brioche Bread & 72 Hour Shortrib, Buttermilk Biscuits, Truffle Gravy.”
How could I pass that up?!
I promptly booked a Wednesday away, which both Adam and I were so very much in need of (seriously, who isn’t overworking themselves these days?!). We were able to stay in the room where we stayed during our wedding weekend, the Nottingham, and it was just as delightful as I remembered. Light, airy, historic, and pristine are all words to describe the Farmhouse. And, waking up to fog rolling in over the Blue Ridge Mountains makes me wonder why we don’t move to this area…
Of course, both dinner and breakfast were delicious (I’m still dreaming about the croissant and pistachio butter). The manager, Gabriela, even remembered from last spring that we were not comfortable with indoor dining and had a table just for us outside in the garden house for dinner. It was the most magical setup.
Note: unfortunately, I ended up with back spasms the day we were heading up, which meant I couldn’t enjoy dinner as much as I would have liked. However, I was determined not to cancel our trip and thankfully they subsided by the next morning, so I was able to indulge fully in breakfast!
So, without further ado, here is a travel diary of my photos. And, remember, if you want all the details, check out last year’s post here.
