Travel Photo Diary: An Afternoon in New Castle, Delaware

This post is truly just a travel photo diary of an afternoon in New Castle, DE. We didn’t eat here or tour any historic sites. We didn’t stop in any shops. But, we did make a mental note to come back because this small, cobblestone street-lined town was so charming on a rainy afternoon, that I can only imagine how delightful it would be on a gorgeous spring or fall day.

Our jaunt through New Castle was tacked on to the end of our weekend in Wilmington, DE. You can read that travel guide here.

New Castle looks out on the Delaware River and it’s incredible to see this grand, historic homes facing a quaint street, knowing that a sweeping view of the river is right in their own backyard. The city was first settled in the 1600s and, while we’ll save the history lesson for another day, know that this town is truly a step back in time.

As I mentioned, this is truly just a photo diary. So, scroll through and enjoy a view of colonial houses, colorful doors, stately brick facades, and manicured gardens. There’s nothing I love more than a step back in architectural time and I know more than a few of you are right there with me.
