I’m back from my September sabbatical, as we might call it. I warned y’all that blog posts would be light in September as I spent my evenings cranking out a month’s worth of freelance work in the two weeks ahead of our week and a half in Europe.
But we got back last Thursday, returning to reality and fall in DC. It’s strange to travel for an extended period of time during the changing of seasons — we left before the official end of summer and returned to what’s now been 5 days of rain, cold weather, and the onslaught of spooky season. And I feel as if I missed that school year start of September and I need to embrace October fully. So we’re diving right in. I’ve already started the fall cooking, planned a mountain getaway, and filled my planner with (realistic) to-do lists. Most of all, I promise I’m going to get travel guides for France and Spain up in a timely fashion (unlike my Mexico travel guides…which I still haven’t done).
In addition, I have blog posts planned on how to pack in a carryon, how I managed with just three pairs of shoes, reviews of a few recent clothing and home purchases, the final installments of our condo tour, and more. So, so much I want to share (see, this is what taking a break does — provides inspiration!).
Where We Went in Spain and France
For now, however, here are a handful of eye candy photos of our travels and a rundown of where we went (you can find it all in highlights over on Instagram, too). We left DC on the 19th, arrived in Barcelona before 8 AM on the 20th, and left Barcelona the afternoon of the 29th.
- 2 days in Barcelona
- 3 days in Nice with day trips to Antibes, Èze, Monaco, and Villefrance-sur-la-Mer
- 2 days in Provence, staying in Avignon
- 2 days in Costa Brava, staying in Llafranc with a day trip to Girona
It was so nice to take a longer trip — I’d previously never spent more than a week in Europe. Of course, I could have stayed longer, but this felt like we had time to explore and not feel so rushed in our itinerary. I can’t wait to share more images but enjoy just a few for now…
I can’t wait to see more of your Europe posts- and especially the ones about Nice!! I’m curious how many spots I’ll recognize from your photos. š Welcome back!! Totally agree that breaks can be the best source of inspo.
