I made this Crabtree & Evelyn Lemon Cake from a cookbook that I found in a Free Little Library on one of my walks around Capitol Hill. This cookbook, A Book of Light Meals and Small Feasts, is perhaps the most gorgeous cookbook I’ve ever owned, with William Morris-inspired patterns throughout, quaint drawings, and menus for events like A Sporting Lunch. It’s like hunt country meets cottage life in the most delightful way.
After flipping through the pages, I decided to try out the Crunchy Lemon Syrup Cake first, and it was even more delicious than expected. Perfectly most with a lemon flavor that wasn’t overpowering. I wrote about it last month in StyleBlueprint.
Crabtree & Evelyn Lemon Cake
You can read the recipe on StyleBlueprint, as well as the last minute addition I made that added an entirely new flavor profile. It’s an easy recipe that took just under an hour total and, even for me, a non-baker, it was easy enough to follow.
I plan on cooking one of the entire menus from this cookbook sometimes this summer, so I’ll definitely share that when I do.
But, until then, head over to StyleBlueprint to check out the recipe. Also, I have been awful about sharing my writing over here, and I’ll try to do that more often! I’m often not writing here because I’m writing elsewhere, but then I never tie the two together.
