The $60 Gold Bamboo Lamp I’d Buy For Every Room

Y’all know I prefer a vintage find above all else. I’ll tell you to shop local all day long. But I also will occasionally admit that an Amazon find is worth buying — particularly when it’s at a price that can’t be beat and I can have it in hand the next day.

That’s what happened with this pair of gold bamboo lamps. I needed something ASAP for our bedroom, and I needed something that would finally go with these block print Ballard Designs pleated shades that I’d bought before I barely had a plan for the room. This was days before the Capitol Hill Restoration Society Home Tour, and I was running out the clock on a few of the remaining design details.

Every lamp I’d gotten for these shades was too short. No surprise since they’re designed for buffet lamps, a fact I was unwilling to accept until I’d gone through several iterations. With days left, I had to find something to serve as a home base for the shades, and I took to Amazon.

$60 Gold Bamboo Lamps

I can’t recall exactly what I searched, but these gold bamboo lamps came up as the first result. At $118 for the pair, they looked like a steal. That’s less than you’ll pay for the average lamp at Target these days (not less than you’ll pay for a vintage lamp, but that’s beside the point). The reviews were good and the quality looked promising in the photos, so I placed a quick order and had them in hand the next day.

These will now be my go-to lamp whenever I’m styling a space that needs a gilded touch. They have significant weight and feel solidly made. The gold is the perfect warm tone. They’re not too metallic. I noticed a few complaints in the reviews about the shades, but, honestly, I threw those in the give-away pile as soon as I got them so I couldn’t even tell you what they were like.

Plus, I realized I actually like the height in our bedroom. I love playing with scale when it comes to light fixtures and lamps alike, and these are larger than I would have initially opted for. But they lengthen a spot in the room where we have an angled ceiling. They end up adding the height we need.

And, for just under $60, I’d buy them again. And again.
