One of the very first items I bought for our kitchen was a marble bistro table. Even before I decided on the black and white checkerboard tile, I had a vision of a tiny bistro table with a wrought iron bottom and a marble top (inspired by Wine & Butter, perhaps). We don’t have much room in our kitchen, but a table for two is a perfect fit. It’s where I envisioned sitting for a few minutes with a cup of coffee, or having a friend perch there while I wrap up making appetizers or dinner for an evening at home.
While the dining room is just steps in the other direction, this is the more casual, intimate spot to grab a seat.
Where to Buy an Affordable Marble Bistro Table
When I started my search, I found Pottery Barn has a gorgeous marble bistro table option. However, I wasn’t in the mood to spend $600 on a 24″ bistro table. It took me about ten seconds of further Googling to stumble across the World Market Round White Marble and Black Metal Bistro Side Table. It was clearly a match for the look I wanted, and the price was right. At $199 and with excellent reviews, it was a no brainer. Anything else at that price point seemed to be lightweight or faux marble, and this is actually beautifully crafted of solid materials.
Plus, the differences are few between the pricier Pottery Barn version and the affordable World Market table. It looks like the marble from Pottery Barn may be a bit thicker, with a bit more gray veining. There are four legs at the bottom rather than three. But that’s where the differences end. The detail on the table base is near identical, and I’d actually say that I prefer the World Market detail since it has a slightly more ornate look. With the crispness of the checkerboard floor, the old world detail stands out. I didn’t want a bistro table with hints of modern — I wanted it to go all in on the vintage French appeal.
Since we’ve (mostly) finished the kitchen, this is one of the items I receive the most questions about, so, presumably, I’m not the only one looking for an affordable marble bistro table option. Hope this helps at least a few of you!
