I’ve had a few conversations recently where someone brought up loving my blog or used it when describing what I do to a third party in a conversation. My first thought was, oh my gosh, do I still have that?! After getting into a pretty good rhythm the past several months, October threw me for a loop.
I had several back-to-back trips that took out most of my month — Bahamas f0r a friend’s birthday, Texas for a week, along with Round Top, Charlottesville, Williamsburg and Richmond. They weren’t necessarily huge trips, but traveling for 15 days out of the month, in addition to back and forth to the cottage, adds up. The weeks that I was in town, I had events nearly every evening, and several days where I had to be out and about at meetings. It all took me out of my routine, leaves me scrambling to work in the evenings and on weekends, and I swear I didn’t know which way was up by the time the month wrapped up.
But, here we are, approaching the end of 2024. I actually took a minute this morning to look at last year’s goals thinking I’d probably gone totally off the rails. To my surprise, I’m actually not doing too bad. Now there are 51 more days left in this year to finish out strong, and I’ll try to pop my face around here a bit more often. Besides Thanksgiving in Texas, a quick trip to Savannah, and Christmas in Richmond, I’m done with travel for the year, and I can enjoy just being home, finishing the house, and, hopefully, feeling like I’m actually on top of work, life, and maybe this blog.
