We’re staring down our first day in the 90s here in DC, which feels both oppressive and unfair before summer has even started. NPR this morning reported that it’s actually the latest we’ve seen 90 degree temperatures since 2003, but I’m not sure I’m buying that. Summer is, hands down, my least favorite season. I overheat easily. I burn. I’m not designed for this type of weather.
Dressing in lightweight cotton or linen is the only way I survive this season. I don’t have time for synthetic fabrics (though that’s year-round, truly), and the lightest, gauziest material possible is the key to making it through hot, humid days. I get everyone loves their workout dresses — they’re cute, yes — but, y’all, don’t those feel sticky and constrained? Give me a flowy natural fiber any day. And, if it’s in crisp white, we’ve hit the jackpot.
White Cotton Dresses for Summer’s Hottest Days
This white eyelet dress from Few Moda is perhaps my favorite so far for summer. It’s 100% cotton with the prettiest eye let detail, has a gorgeous low back, and the front offers the tiniest hint of a risqué surprise with the cutout.
Of course, there are dozens of pretty white cotton dresses for summer available right now, and I scoured the internet for a few of my favorites. These are the kind of dresses you can throw on and feel absolutely put together for the day. Simple jewelry, neutral sandals, and you’re done.
