Even though this dress is sold out in most sizes (if you’re a 12 or 14, you’re in luck!), I still felt compelled to do a full Sezane dress review. I’ve worn it a few times already and, without fail, I’m stopped multiple times by people complimenting the dress or asking where I bought it. Photos don’t seem to do it justice. This dress is so gorgeous and so fresh looking for summer.
Also, if you set an alert, there’s a good chance it’ll come back in stock. Sezane does free returns, which always lends itself to people buying a lot and then returning.
Sezane Dress Review
First things first, if this is your first time ordering from Sezane, start with this post. I talk about whether I think Sezane is worth the hype because I know there’s a lot of chatter saying it’s meh (spoiler: I think those people are just being contrarian for the sake of being contrarian).
I ordered the Sezane Melville dress after swooning over it for several weeks. Anything blue and white immediately catches my eye, and I loved the crisp contrast of the embroidery with the ivory backdrop. As soon as I tried it on, no regrets. This is going to become a go-to summer dress for me.
How It’s Made
I’ve found with all of Sezane’s dresses that they’re beautifully made. This is embroidered and lined. The fabric and lining are both 100% cotton. It feels like a high quality dress.
Note: I only order natural fabrics from Sezane (or anywhere, for that matter), which may be part of why I’ve been so happy with the brand.
How It Fits
This is a midi dress, and, for me, it hits just a few inches above the ankles. For context, I’m right under 5’5′. Thanks to elastic at the “sleeves” and a tie back, it’s incredibly forgiving, so you can make it fit as snug or as relaxed as you’d like.
How It Runs
I find that even though Sezane always says to size down, don’t. I did a 6 in this dress, and I wouldn’t want to go any smaller, especially because I always like a little extra room in my summer dresses so I don’t get to hot.
How To Wear It
While you could certainly dress it up, I’ve worn this dress casually. Just sandals and simple jewelry. I do plan on wearing it this weekend with my favorite heeled sandals and bigger earrings — stay tuned on Instagram for that look.

Sezane Summer Dress Picks
There are a few other Sezane dresses I have my eye on this summer. This tan and white shirtdress looks like the perfect lounge-around meets dress-it-up look. I imagine wearing it belted for a lunch or loose for a day spent running around. I tried this gorgeous embroidered dress and, while it didn’t work on me, I’ve seen it on others, and it’s so good. Lastly, I don’t usually do short dresses, but this blue and white dress has had my eye all season long, and I just might spring for it after all.
