Nothing says summer like a simple tomato sandwich. White bread, juicy tomato slices, a generous spread of Duke’s Mayonnaise, and a sprinkling of salt and pepper. That’s all you need for sandwich perfection.
Don’t even think about using any mayonnaise besides Duke’s. It just won’t do (no, not a sponsored post, I just feel very strongly about this subject). And you may have to purchase white bread just for this sandwich, because nothing else works in a tomato sandwich. No wheat, no multi-grain, no sourdough, no rye. An heirloom tomato is a nice touch, but any garden tomato will be just as delicious.
Simple Tomato Sandwich
2 slices of white bread
1 tomato
Duke’s Mayonnaise
Salt and pepper
Toast the bread lightly. Slice the tomato into 1/4″ slices. Spread a generous serving of mayonnaise on both slices of bread. Layer the tomato slices on one slice of bread. Season with salt and pepper. Top with the other slice of bread. Enjoy every juicy bite!
In the spirit of this sandwich, I’ve gathered a collection of tomato themed items for you below. Also, I definitely recommend investing in a tomato knife. It seems like a ridiculous concept at first to have a knife solely for slicing tomatoes, but I promise you it’s a whole new world once you use a tomato knife for the first time.
