I work with a good friend of mine and more than a few times she’s come into my office and called me out for wearing jeans—and not on a Friday. “Whatever, I’m wearing a blazer” is my go to defense and this outfit is standard fare for those days.
I’ve preferred high waisted jeans for a few years now…well, basically ever since slightly belly baring tops went out in say, 2003? But, for some reason, when I cut my hair into a bob last summer, I decided that meant I should embrace a 90’s mom vibe full stop on occasion. Sometimes that manifests itself in slightly cropped swingy tops and high waisted skinny pants, other times it’s the high waisted jeans paired with a tucked in shirt and a skinny belt. Perhaps a girl with my curves on bottom should steer clear of this look, but hey, it’s waist accentuating.
Navy Blazer – Emerald and Navy Check Shirt – Leopard Skinny Belt {old, but similar}
High Waisted Skinny Jeans {last season, but similar here} – Penny Loafers
Red Nail Polish– Gold Knot Earrings – Cuff Bracelet – Sunglasses {similar}
I spotted these penny loafers in a store in the East Village when I was up in NYC sometime this past fall, took a picture to remind myself to buy them at some point, and finally got around to it (and found them still in stock online!) last week. I love how their timeless, androgynous look.
Also, I rarely wear green, but I’m posting this look just in time for St. Patrick’s Day. So if you’re in need of something to wear, here you go, you’re welcome. I’ll definitely be wearing this shirt on Saturday.
