Update on 5 Year of Using Press-On Nails: Impress Nails Review

A few friends have recently tried Impress nails, which I’ve sworn by since 2019. Back then, I turned to them when we moved and I was less-than-impressed with the dip and gel options at the salon near our condo.

I first heard about them from Young House Love, and I expected they’d be fine. I didn’t expect them to become my go-to for years. But, here I am, basically a press-on nails evangelist. I won’t be going back anytime soon. Even when I get a gel pedicure, I skip the manicure.

Impress Nails Review

I swear by these Impress press-on nails. Every time someone compliments my manicure, they’re shocked when I tell them they’re press-on. They always look perfect (they should — they’re fake!), and they have a little bit of the thickness of dip paired with the shine of gel.

But I also always tell people that the press-on nails alone generally don’t do the trick. You need to get the press-on nails and then apply them with the nail glue. It’s that combo that helps them last.

However, they’re not for perfectionists. They will lift and pop off after a while, and you’ll need to glue them back down or put on a new one. I usually don’t do a full set at a time because I just replace them as they need replacing.

But, at $7.99 for a pack that gets me at least two full sets, so a month or so of nails, it’s 100% worth it. I usually just have nail glue in my purse just in case one pops off at an inopportune moment but, in five years, I can probably count on one hand the number of times that’s happened.

I stick to two colors from Impress — Corally Crazy and Reddy or Not. The classic red is my color throughout fall-winter-spring, then I like to pull out the coral in the summer. Come Labor Day, I’m back to red. Thanks to these, I always feel pulled together, I don’t have to give my look any time or thought — especially not time spent going to the nail salon, and I know that my nails will always look perfect. There’s a lot to my routine that isn’t low maintenance, but this is one area where I know I can be easy breezy.
