For all the times we’ve been to the Tides Inn for drinks, we’d never actually stayed there. There’s never been a need given that our cottage is 20 minutes away, and we have family in the area. But I had the opportunity to stay there recently for a story I was writing for Southern Living and, of course, I jumped on it right away.
It didn’t anticipate how refreshing it would be to stay in the area but not stay at our own house. Whenever we’re at the cottage, we’re constantly pulled in a million directions wondering what we need to do in terms of maintenance or projects. There’s always weeding to be done, roses to be pruned, or corners to be dusted. We never get to just relax. Even when we’re out and about, we’re thinking about what needs to be tended to as soon as we get home.
Late Summer Weekend at the Tides Inn
Staying at the recently renovated Tides Inn was just so relaxing. We got to truly unplug and immerse ourselves in everything there, from the kayaking to the beekeeping to the oyster tour (I would highly recommend all of the activities they offer — it’s like summer camp!). We rode bikes into town. My parents and aunt and uncle met us for drinks in the evening before dinner. It was just a delightful weekend.
I’ll leave the details to the story (read it here!), but here are all the photos I couldn’t include but so wish I could have.
